What happens next
The buyer lands on the main page and sees the way to pay you switched on first, with the other ways underneath as separate lines: ‘QR code does not work’, ‘Manual bank transfer’, ‘I am not an EU customer’. Every line leads to the same amount through a different door, and there is a ‘Back’ everywhere. Which ways the page offers is your choice under Settings > Payment page > Configuration.
I have paid
At the bottom there is always ‘I have paid’. What happens next depends on how the buyer paid:
- Bank transfer or EPC code: the payment carries the buyer’s account with it, so there is nothing to ask. The buyer gets a thank-you straight away.
- Payment link or Outside the EU: such a link carries no account. We therefore ask for the last four digits of the account number, so the payment can be traced later.
- Pay with your bank (Ponto): here we need to ask nothing and believe nothing, we ask the bank. Signed is signed, and unsigned is politely told that nothing was paid.
A message to you
As soon as a buyer says they have paid, you get an e-mail about it right away, as long as ‘Mail on a reported payment’ is set to ‘Yes’ for your user. Bear in mind that this is still the buyer saying so: the money is only really there once the bank confirms it.
